Boat Safety Week 2007
Even though the 2007 boating season is just coming to a close in most parts of Canada, the CSBC has started to prepare for the 2008 North American Safe Boating Awareness Week campaign to continue to spread the message of safe and responsible boating. The official ‘week’ for 2008 runs from May 17 to May 23rd, but as in previous years the week is simply a kick off for safe and responsible boating behaviors that should be used all season long.
For 2008, the main message focuses include Life Jacket Wear, the importance of boating sober, acquiring boating education, operator and vessel preparedness and the risks associated with cold water immersion.
As in past years the Council will be working closely with our partner organizations to develop a larger grassroots network and create a more comprehensive delivery of our campaign messages. South of the border, the National Safe Boating Council will be delivering the North American Safe Boating Week messages to American boaters with a particular emphasis on Life Jackets and Life Jacket wear.
Media involvement and support is essential to effectively deliver the Safe Boating message to the recreational boating public. Early in the new year this section of the CSBC web site will be updated to include all the 2008 campaign material for print, radio and television to help media prepare editorials, news coverage and special programming.
All print and radio materials will be made available in downloadable formats and for use in promoting safe boating at no charge. In the meantime, please take time to visit and peruse the materials that were created and made available for the 2007 campaign.
